Koax Walkera 5-4Q3 Blue, 2.4Ghz
Hallo Guys,
Sorry my German is not so great so I will type this in English, if you can help feel free to reply in German or English.
I have a Walkera 5#4Q3 Koaxial Helikopter and love it but after one tow many heavy landings I now find that as I push up the left stick to take off the Main Motor for the Main Blade 1 cuts out and only the Main Blade 2 and motor gears teun at normal speed.
Anyone with any ideas why? before I go through the challange of taking the whole thing appart
Many thanks in advance for your help

Hello,
Have you checked the motors pinion that cuts out?
As well I would check the gear. Try holding the blade 1 and then cautious test if you are able to rotate the gear.
My guess either the pinion on the motor is loose or the gear slips on the rotor shaft.
Or is it really the motor that stops?
Cheers,
Markus

Thanks for the reply Markus and support. It is definately the motor that stops, well I can see that the brass gear stops spinning and it sounds like only one motor is running. It happens at the point when about one quarter throttle is applied.
Following reading you comment I just check the Heli out again and noticed that if I dip the tail towards the floor both motors and gears appear to work fine. I never noticed this before. So maybe there is something lose like a pinion on the motor, that stays in place by applying the correct angle...hummm. I also noticed the central black cogs wobble a bit which doesn't look good but this stops as you apply more throttle.
I will keep investigating and I would appreciate further thoughts from you(and others), particularly if it is a pinion, I have no idea how to fix this.
Thanks alot for your help so far,
Jonathan

....well I carriedon checking this "dipping the tail observation" but it isn't consistantly replicated. The main motor/gear stops.....hummmm
I look forward to further support before I under take my first Heli disassembly.....I fear there will be bits left over and poor Heli probably won't at all after...
Ta Jonathan

Hello Jonathan,
I have to tell - I don't know the walkera 5-4q3.
But after reading your reply it sounds to me like you are having with the gyro (i guess it is onboard (the PCB).
What happens when you try to start, the motor one stops and you move the tail left and right? My guess: in one direction the motor will start again.
If that is the case you can try the following (i have read that in a forum in germany):
1. Before you start (everything powered on and ready to take off) move the rudder stick - left and right several times
2. Push the throttle stick forward to take off
3. now before or at the time when the motor stops repeat step 1 staying at the actual throttle level.
otherwise - check if you accidentally changed something on your transmitter.
If nothing of those methods help, you will have to disassemble it and check part by part.
Also possible: one of your hard landings killed / damaged the gyro.
Hope that helps!

Hey Markus,
I think my Heli is quiet sick.
The advice below seemed to work a little, although the Heli never had enough power to get off the ground, humm. (will charge battery and check again).
I notice that applying right rudder and the Heli spins right. However, applying left rudder one sees no response!
Futher problems can be seen with the elevator and aileron unit - the unit doesn't looks to be level and more importantly the unit doesn't respond correctly. Also the respective motor seems to be getting hot quickly!
I continue to check it out, while looking for a new Walkera 2.4 Ghz Heli.
Cheers
Jonathan
